Sykiés The pitch for the proposed Keel-Sanderson opus (Abominable Space Things) continues with a chapter by chapter outline. It seems to bear the stamp of Sanderson more than Keel; John mentioned in correspondence that he wanted to keep speculation to a minimum. But then again, John was more likely to misspell “Renaissance”; Sanderson was a better speller. Here are the first eight chapters (of twelve), taking us up through 1948. I’ll break it up, to keep the posts manageable. It sounds like it would have been a lively book…

Hi, Doug:
What a treat to read the actual outline (and to be reminded that, when I started freelancing in 1982, my typewriter had a red-option on the ribbon!) Keel and Sanderson wrote. Can’t say it wasn’t organized. Looked like they were reading to get going on the text. At least they left us many others, eh?
Best,

Well, they ended up using the material in their own books. Part of the problem was that John was putting more effort into that proposed UFO piece for Playboy, which was eventually rejected; and this project took second place. Ah well…
