Mary Hyre’s next letter to John is full of news: there’s a story about contactee sex, a report on Woodrow Derenberger’s brother, and more UFO sightings. There’s also a report of six helicopters flying in close formation over the Ohio River; John marked the envelope “Helicopters,” so that must have been the part that most intrigued him. The clippings she mentioned weren’t in the envelope; John must have filed them elsewhere. I don’t know what happened to Jesse Herrold’s tapes, either.

Very interesting, as always.
A thought occurred to me, was Mary Hyre’s archive of correspondence saved, or was it discarded after she passed away? I assume her end might have held the Keel letters, and it would be great if his responses to her would have also survived.
Another thing. Have you found any documentation in Keel’s archive on his recounting of the grinning man episode as retold here? http://skeptoid.com/episodes/4367
Best regards,
Theo

I don’t know if Mary Hyre kept her correspondence. If so, I’d like to see it. John often kept carbons of his letters, but I haven’t come across any to Mary Hyre. I haven’t seen anything on the grinning man either. He often wrote up reports of local incidents, so there may be one in his files somewhere.
