I always enjoy reading what John had to say about writing. Here’s a short talk he gave on the subject; it seems to be from the ’50s. I’ll give half of it here; the second half will follow.

Great new Keel info, Doug. I collected somewhere around 100 rejection slips over 2 years before making my first sale–still have them! Probably should’ve eaten them, though–with Tabasco sauce!

I love this stuff. Much of the world thinks of John as a “ufologist”. This reminds us that he was first and always a writer. It really sets him apart from the rest of that pack. There’s just something about his humor that always comes through that is refreshing. Great stuff Doug, thanks for posting it!

John was a hard working writer long before he took up UFOs. I wonder what he would have done if he hadn’t gone that route?
