buy antabuse online canada The next letter from Mary Hyre was written on January 14, 1968, a month after the collapse of the Silver Bridge (December 15, 1967). She tells John about some of the aftermath of the disaster, as well as a few UFO sightings, including one of her own. Jack Brown makes a reappearance, although, of course, he could be a different one. The Messenger is the paper that Mary wrote for; they did print a large article about the disaster, which John saved. (Also, in case anyone is wondering, I’m scanning each page in two sections because Mary Hyre wrote on oversize paper that won’t fit on my scanner.)

Once again, thanks for sharing John’s papers, especially Mary’s letters. It really helps to fill in the back story about Point Pleasant. This is one of my regular stops when I surfing the net.

Doug, these letters are pure treasure. Your hands must shake when you flatten the pages in your scanner—mine would!

I find Mary’s letters fascinating, myself. I’m glad you enjoy them!

Hi Doug,
As always, many thanks in posting these intriguing behind the scenes documents. We are almost transported to other times and other places, the dark side of the 1960’s, where MIB and black cars sped through foggy nights and a winged weirdo terrorized a whole town. We see Mary Hyre pounding the keys of her typewriter, shadows cross her face, all in black and white of course with an eery theremin soundtrack in the background- and you know what? Just a year later I got to watch on a beautiful, wooden cased black and white TV how a Man In White strutted around in slow motion on our neighboring planet, the Moon! I was a little kid then, but my parents made me stay up and watch. Our whole living room was crowded with people intensely watching the screen, as TV sets were still uncommon but we had one.
Thank you for being such a splendid custodian of these Vaults of the Absolute Elsewhere. And thank you for reminding me that yes, I once shared this planet with these amazing people.

Is Whitman the white -man, white mhaired man in the next letter?

Whitman was a publishing company that specialized in children’s books, coloring books, and games. I went through a lot of Whitman as a kid. I just googled them: they’re still around, but now specialize in coin boards and books on coin collecting.

Looked up my misery on Long Island to discover it is near Walt Whitmans family homestead. Coincidence?

Huh. What would be the connection? It sounds like coincidence…
