Just a curiosity, I wonder if the disk can be read like DVD? The latest memory devices can store gigabytes on disks the size of a coin.

The disc was most likely a premium given away with the Hartz Mountain flea collar. In 1967, flea collars were still a new item, only invented a few years before in 1964. As a promotion, early collars included a blank metal ID disc as a premium. You sent it to the company with 10 cents, and if you were lucky, the company returned the disc ingraved with your hone number.
