Bruay-la-Buissière John’s daily record continues with more drama from Jaye Paro: a new alien, Rodan, threatens to murder four people she knows if she doesn’t stop her contact with “those people.” Apol/Appell had previously given Paro the name “Tim’na” in a letter to John. Of course, if she actually wrote the letter, she would know about her new name. More puzzling, perhaps, is the report from John’s girlfriend Gerda, about a small disc outside her window.

I’m guessing John was being gassed or something.Jaye was either really desperate for attention or someone was really messing with her as well as John.

Rodan was a very dangerous character:

I wouldn’t be surprised! The question is, what will John do about it? He’s in over his head, with an increasingly unreliable witness and no clear method to follow. He has some confirmation bias, since he’s a writer, and Jaye is providing him with juicy stories. Besides, he wants to be the one to crack the UFO mystery. The more I read this stuff, the more I think Jaye was deluded, rather than hoaxing, although you could make a case for that too. I post once a week, but I should point out that all of this was happening much faster.

Considering that John as far as I know has never mentioned Jaye once in any of his talks makes me believe that he realized that Jaye was not reliable.I know he mentioned her in his Mothman book but not that much.I wish someone knew where she is today if she’s still alive.

Joseph, I think she is alive and still living in the same area.
That’s just from public records, I have no personal information. It would be fascinating to hear what she might say about all this, 50 years later.

[…] Matters of alien visitation are neither so theoretical nor so hopeful for John Keel in Special Cases–The Long Island File (60): A New Threat!. Things had gotten weirder and potentially more deadly, too, after Jaye Paro’s return from […]

I first read one of Keel’s books in the early 1970s when I was in college and he properly scared the hell out of me. I was particularly disturbed by his observation that the more interest you had in the phenomenon, the more the phenomenon tended to zero in on you.
This came to a head in 1973 when my cousin and I observed an old Cadillac convertible slowly cruising our neighborhood. We watched from the shadows as it rumbled past us and we observed a man, woman, and child in the car – expressionless, motionless, and, to our eye, not entirely human (I shared the story several years ago on the Phantoms and Monsters website – http://www.phantomsandmonsters.com/2011_12_25_archive.html).
I remember that weirdly disconcerting feeling I had thinking that I was tapping into something totally unknown and unpredictable. I can only imagine the confusion and apprehension Keel must have experienced being smack in the middle of this.
