It’s nice to know that John did expect Jim Mosley of pranking him. I’m curious to know how much involvement that William Ahern had in all of this.

did john ever meet gladys? i wonder if gladys knew william ahern personally, or knew of him , and how? ahern had both a mail drop and a bogus business front in the building? the “AT&T office”? or was the building address just a red herring mosley threw in ?
it seems like such an odd collection of people of varied ages.
BTW theres still a Thomas Swain living on long island. formerly of greenlawn. we could call and ask what this was all about! i wonder why john said,” greenlawn, yet.” was greenlawn connected to another thread in this mystery? how does a 15 year old kid “know of” an older woman living in another town? and why did he contact gladys at all if the call was about Jaye Paro?? how does gladys become part of this?
so mosley knew swain thru the newsletter. maybe they had corresponded. Mosley calls him using the name of a known wiretapper oddball. and he gives swain aherns real address? “ahern /mosley” wants to know why Jaye has been “silenced” so…so far it looks like mosley has taken the bait. Jaye calls the real number of the wiretap nut job, and with his mad skills, he gets involved with a rerouted call to Jaye that seems like it is from DC. did Jaye call from Johns? or from her phone??? Jaye can’t think up anything brilliant, so she plays dumb. or else she never gets a phone call from ahern at all. Ahern, suspicious and conspiratorial minded, wants to know who is calling him with such a phony “wrong number” dodge. so he finds out where jayes call came from. or who it frequently calls, and he runs over to johns and puts a tap on the phone. or he’s angry or clumsy, and he cuts the line…. who tittle is, i have no idea.
to me it seemed like every business name in the building was sketchy. the montery light and power company was bought up as part of an effort of consolidating electric railcar companies in Montery CA, but the co seems to have fallen apart in the early 1910’s and is described as an effort to defraud the govt into releasing development? funds. http://www.santacruztrains.com/2018/01/railroads-early-monterey-bay-railroad.html …the united corp could have been the name of the aegis company. at any rate, an odd name to have in NYC in the 60’s. I can answer one question, Patty. Greenlawn, LI also was the home of admitted MIB hoaxer Joseph Henslik, who had been coached by Moseley and Gray Barker.
